First Broadcast, the debut album from Doug’s project Ambient Vibraphone Music, is now streaming on all music streaming services. The project began on YouTube in 2024 as an exploration of placing the vibraphone in the realm of Ambient Music. All of the recordings are live performances.
I’ve recently released two sibling Max for Live Devices a couple months apart, the last just released. They’re both designed with live performance in mind, and allow the musician to control when and how midi notes are allowed to flow from a midi controller to Ableton using a midi controller. I’ve released a new M4L Device, MIDI Note Funnel, which funnels incoming MIDI notes to a single note. For example, bus a generative bass line to a drum rack and select a range of those notes to trigger a bass drum. Select midi thru to allow non-funneled notes to pass through and chain multiple devices to trigger another sample or note.
The Man From Nowhere EP, MC 5, has been re-released on Bandcamp. The tracks on this one are pretty wide ranging, a scattered generative groove with vibraphone which generates a meditative state, a beat worthy of ship jumping, a water color work made of 10 copies of a vibraphone improvisation with bells accompanying, a soundtrack for the chaos in the streets, and a short drum mantra existing in multiple realities.
